“Everything you’ve ever wanted is one step outside your comfort zone.”
Are you willing to step outside your comfort zone? Sometimes, the journey to fulfilling your purpose requires you to do things that may seem ‘uncomfortable’ or ‘difficult,’ but friends the truth is that we have to start getting comfortable being uncomfortable, that is the reality of life. Hard-work in itself is not easy, hustling day and night to reach that goal of your isn’t easy, waking up at 5am isn’t fun, unless it has become your lifestyle, living a discipline lifestyle is not always easy. The things we want so much in life require hard work, focus and perseverance.
Life as a whole puts us in uncomfortable and un-pleasurable situations but if we only realise that these challenges have come to shape us into who we were meant to be, we would handle them with the right attitude. In life, there are times when you’ve got to take risks and I mean huge risks in order to live the life you were destined to and like the title of this post says you’ve got to be willing to step outside your comfort zone. I’ve touched on this in my recent posts but I felt it was necessary to revisit it. So many young people want the easy route; they want the get rich quick scheme when successful themselves had their stories of struggle, hard work, discipline etc.
You want to become a doctor or a very good attorney, what are you doing? You want to own your business and avoid the 9 to 5 route, what are you doing? You want to be a well-known motivational speaker or an author, what steps are you taking? For some, fear seems to be their hindrance but are you going to let fear dominate your life and prevent you from living your purpose. You’ve got to make a choice. Stepping outside your comfort zone sometimes requires you doing things you’ve never done before. It might be doing some voluntary work or mentoring classes, or taking that internship, or attending that networking event or as simple as buying your domain name and getting a business card; putting yourself at the forefront of opportunities. Success comes when opportunity meets preparation. No one has become successful by doing nothing or just dreaming and hoping. That’s good but there’s a time for everything, a time to dream and a time to write down those goals, a time to take action. You’ve got to be doing what your dream requires no matter how difficult it may seem and when you do start, don’t give up. Keep your eyes on your goal.
It’s common for one to make a start which is good, but some drop out which is so painful. The thing is that you never know who you’re inspiring; you never know who’s watching you. You might have told your friends of your idea to write a book and if you have the supportive bunch, they might have helped with nurturing that idea and as you begin to write, there’ll be times when you feel like discouraged or uninspired. What do you do? Do you relent or do you press on? You never know if one of your friends or people you’ve met might be counting on you or been inspired by you or even holding on to their dreams because of people like you.
Never underestimate your influence, your power and your potential. You are destined for greatness and when challenges come your way, remind yourself of whom you are and the champion that lies inside of you waiting to be unleashed. Don’t let one setback or disappointment or even criticisms deter you. The whole point of this platform is to keep you motivated, it’s a place where you can come whenever you feel discouraged; my prayer is that my words will propel you to keep pushing forward.
So whatever it is you have in mind, whatever goal you have, in school, in college, at work, in your personal life, step outside your comfort zone. Take risks, do something different, try another method if one way isn’t working. Put yourself forward, surround yourself with positivity, read self-improvement books, follow your passion and your calling. Most of all, DON’T procrastinate, why put off things you can do now? Stop deceiving yourself that you got time and you’re young, that’s the biggest lie so many young people have come to accept. Now is the time, today is the day to put that goal of yours into action. Make the first step! Don’t relent! You can do it!
