I decided to do something different this time around… I felt it would be good to share some of the ways I stay motivated daily. It’s easy for one to assume that we as bloggers/content-creators are constantly motivated and productive and we got this personal-development thing figured out. The truth is that we don’t know it all, well I am still learning. As much as I am a very driven and determined individual with a strong will-power, I still have my ‘tough days’ like anyone else despite the fact that I am constantly bringing motivational content to you all. There are still those days where I have to seek motivation from within and use the following to push me through.
So, here are the four things that help me stay motivated each day.
Affirmations: These work like magic. There is so much power in the tongue and what you tell yourself is what will manifest in your life. I make it a point of duty to say affirmations to myself each morning, whether it’s when I’m getting dressed for the day or I’m on the way to uni. I’m constantly telling myself that I’m destined for greatness, I’m highly favored, I am unique, I am intelligent and have I seen results? YES! When you say these affirmations, they get registered in your subconscious and become a part of you. The law of attraction is very powerful. You attract what you are. What you meditate on each day will manifest in your life. If you focus on positivity and wellness, you will see those results.
I say this from experience because it has been a long journey for me coming out from my shell and breaking down self-defeating beliefs and overcoming my mistakes to rise up to the woman God has called me to be. The champion inside of me lay dormant for so many years and my mistakes and failures constantly blurred the greatness that lay inside of me. But, with the help of God and dedicating time to personal development through self-evaluation, books, podcasts, learning from my life’s experiences, I am a different person- much more confident, fulfilled and walking in my purpose each day. No doubt, I still have a long way to go. I’m still learning, making mistakes, trying to learn the life-lessons and keep pushing forward.
Affirmations have certainly helped with my personal growth. If you don’t make an effort to stay motivated, you will slowly find out you are not living…yes, you are alive but …just going through the motions of life with no purpose or ambition. That is not how life is meant to be lived. You are worth more than mediocre. And when you realize this, you refuse to settle, you would do everything to guard your heart and keep motivated.
Looking through my Instagram feed: I’m sure you didn’t expect this but it is the truth. I know social media has gradually become an avenue for comparison and highlighting one’s insecurities and inadequacies but it depends on who you choose to follow and entertain on your feed. On my Motty Inspires feed, I am constantly surrounded with so much positivity from successful people I admire to the young person breaking barriers and doing the thing they were called to do. Seeing these keep me motivated to walk in my purpose. Also seeing the comments and DMs of you all who send messages that my post was inspiring and that I’m doing an amazing work certainly keeps me going because this journey is tough sometimes. But when one surrounds themselves with positivity and not just gossip or ‘fake people’- you have lots of them on social media. But, when you eliminate these negative streams on your social media, you welcome more opportunities for you to grow.
So, YES scrolling through my Instagram feed certainly inspires me and keeps me motivated to do my best and keep impacting the world with my platform.
Thinking about my family: I know this may sound cliché. But, my parents and siblings are probably my biggest motivators especially being away from them in university. They are indeed my greatest blessings on earth. Their prayers, hard-work, and countless sacrifices motivate me to keep doing my best, to give my 100% in my academics, side-hustle, health, finances. They keep me going and for you, it might be your grandmother who has brought you up all these years or your aunt back home. Let them be your WHY. Let them push you daily! Let them motivate you to WAKE up and do the thing you were called to do.
Thinking about my future: Woah this one is certainly motivating! I have a vision board up in my room and each time I look at it from my bedside, it constantly challenges me to the point that I worry how I will achieve all my goals. I have BIG dreams for my personal life and my brand/business (Motty Inspires), which is the reason I work hard each day and stay dedicated. When I think of the impact I want to make on the lives of young people across the world, my story of the importance of having hope that needs to be shared. I can’t afford to settle and procrastinate. When I think about what I want my legacy to be- not that I did not make mistakes but that I was perseverant, I was dedicated to fulfilling my purpose against all odds…..
I hope this is the same for you. I would love to know how you stay motivated daily!! Is it through books, podcasts or even simply the fear of failure?!
